Overview

These courses provide a foundational overview of TECH Clean California, information about the incentive submittal process and participation in TECH Clean California initiatives.

Take the courses that are applicable to your company and that are advised by your TECH Account Manager to complete enrollment. The target audience and description for each course is listed below.

Required for ALL TECH enrolled Contractors:

• TECH Clean California Overview
  This course provides a general overview of the TECH Clean California initiative
• IRIS Incentive Processing
  This course provides a high-level overview of the eligibility requirements for TECH Clean California, a step-by-step walkthrough of the application portal (aka “IRIS”), and a quick demo of IRIS

Required for Multifamily Contractors:

• TECH Multifamily Overview and Incentive Process – Coming soon
  This course provides information about TECH Clean California multifamily incentives, the reservation process and how to participate, and the multifamily incentive claim process

Required for Contractors Installing Heat Pump Water Heaters:

• TECH & ESMAC Heat Pump Water Heater Education Training
  This course is required and must be taken by at least one individual at the company. TECH & ESMAC training covers an overview of TECH Clean California program requirements, eligibility, and how to apply for incentives, as well as an ENERGY STAR® overview. Manufacturer representatives will hold heat pump water heater education sessions focused on appropriate applications, energy efficiency comparison to other water heater types, and selling strategies. The training lasts two hours and is hosted in an online webinar format. Please see the training below on this page. 

• TECH-Approved Heat Pump Water Heater Installer Trainings
  Installers must take one of the following trainings before installing TECH Clean California-incentivized heat pump water heater projects: 
  • A state-certified apprenticeship program 
  • TECH & ESMAC training – Please see the training sessions below on this page 
  • Manufacturer-specific training – Access the training sessions at our Contractor Knowledge Hub
    Contractors can decide which training they would like their installers to complete.
    

• Key Requirements for Heat Pump Water Heater Projects
  This course provides an overview of the new heat pump water heater incentives and requirements. Topics covered include project eligibility, time-of-use, demand response, and other key requirements.
